UCW recently delivered hands-on workshops for BA (Hons) Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics for Production students, enhancing their skills and preparing them for careers in the competitive world of film, TV, and theatre production.
Wig specialist Wendy Richards from Angel Wigs brought her extensive experience of over 30 years to UCW, engaging students in a highly informative session on custom wig creation. Working with private clients and NHS patients, Wendy provided practical advice, tips, and professional insights on working within this specialised area. Students learned about the intricacies of wig-making and fitting, gaining a comprehensive understanding of this unique skill and the impact it can have on their careers.
In addition, Year 2 and 3 students participated in a two-day barbering masterclass, an essential skill set for makeup artists aspiring to work in the film and TV industry. The workshop, which included training on male hair cutting, clipper use, and fading techniques, introduced students to essential barbering skills that are sought after by production studios. This hands-on training equips students with versatile skills that are critical for creating authentic character looks on screen.
