Our Year 1 and Year 2 Business Management and Sustainability students took an exciting trip to Thatchers Cider in Sandford. This trip helped students to build understanding of the operations management used by Thatchers. The trip offered a unique opportunity to gain insights into the operational management of the business, with a particular focus on its long-term sustainability initiatives.
During the visit, students took part in an extensive site tour, where they learned about Thatchers commitment to automation and innovation, as well as their efforts in social sustainability. This includes retraining initiatives aimed at fostering strong relationships within the local community.
The experience directly supported students’ studies in modules including Sustainable Venture Creation and Sustainable Business Case Development, providing practical examples to enhance their learning and strengthen their final assessments.
This employer trip forms part of the Business and Accounting Careers Excellence Hub. University Centre Weston has ten sector-specific Career Excellence Hubs, which evidence our dedication to supporting both employers and learners in achieving their future goals. By creating a seamless connection between industry and education, we enable learners to acquire not only the essential skills and knowledge but also the professional networks necessary to excel in their chosen fields.
