Last week our Technical Demonstrator in Science, Vicki was invited to be a judge in Manchester at the WorldSkills Laboratory Technician Finals! This exciting competition invites lab technicians working across both academia and industry. There were competitors and judges from many different types of organisations including chemical, biomedical, pharmaceutical, biotechnology and other scientific sectors.
The attributes that Vicki was carefully judging included quality and accuracy of lab work. In addition to this, safety and ethical standards were carefully considered. Some of the key skills encouraged by World Skills include critical thinking, adaptability, team working, problem solving, attention to detail, good time management, health and safety.
