Showcase Your Talent: Sign Up for our UCW Performing Arts Auditions

14/11/2024

Aspiring performers, get ready to shine! UCW invites you to audition for one of our exciting performance degree programs, where we combine auditions with a “day in the life” experience. This unique format allows you to experience our course offerings first-hand, get to know our expert tutors, and discover the incredible support services we provide for students. Our upcoming audition dates are set for 16th December 2024, 24th January 2025, and 17th February 2025.

Each audition day provides an immersive journey. After a welcome from the program coordinator, you’ll participate in sample classes tailored to your chosen field, whether that’s mastering new choreography, honing acting techniques, or refining ballet skills. The day concludes with one-on-one sessions where tutors learn more about you and your aspirations, followed by your audition.

We’ve got a handy breakdown of what will happen at an audition for each course:

BA (Hons) Acting and Performance Making
Candidates will prepare a monologue (2-3 minutes) from a published play, with the opportunity to discuss and refine it. The audition also includes a practical workshop where applicants create and perform a response to a scenario, in any form they choose. An interview rounds out the experience.

BA (Hons) Dance for Commercial Performance
Applicants should bring a 2½-minute solo piece of their own choreography, showcasing any dance style that reflects their skills. They will also participate in ballet, jazz, and commercial classes, ending with a short dance audition piece. An interview follows to learn more about each candidate.

BA (Hons) Musical Theatre
Candidates will perform two contrasting songs from Musical Theatre, each no longer than two minutes. Auditionees will then participate in ballet and jazz classes, concluding with a dance audition. The day wraps up with an interview to discuss their passion for the performing arts.

This is your chance to join a vibrant community of performers and gain the training you need to excel in the performing arts industry. Secure your audition date by signing up by clicking here and take the first step towards an exciting career on stage or screen.
