UCW gave me the knowledge and the confidence to get out there and create opportunities for myself. The lecturers were so experienced and without their input I don’t think I would be where I am today.

Mia, Musical Theatre, BA (Hons)

Our lecturers are so lovely. What I think is really nice is that we’ve got smaller classes compared to other unis, so we get more one on one time. I feel like we’ve got to know them.

Poppy, Hair, Make-up and Prosthetics for Production, BA (Hons)

The support and guidance from my lectures has been invaluable. All of my lecturers have been, or still are, practised in the professional industry, meaning that it’s not just the content of the course that we are learning. Our lecturers often share anecdotes about their experiences in the industry.

Having almost every product I need available at all times has been a great benefit to my learning. In addition, the tutors have always supported my ideas and my creativity and that has given me the confidence to believe in myself and to never doubt my abilities.

My lecturers have really pushed me in order to become a better performer, while they have helped me in seeing my own strengths. Though we of course are here to improve and get better it is important to highlight strengths and improvements in order to feel encouraged to continue. I feel like my lecturers have really found that balance, which I really appreciate.

Jenny Aspström, Musical Theatre, BA (Hons)

Male Nursing Associate (Higher Apprenticeship) student working in a practical setting - learning how to use a hoist with a medical dummy
What really appealed was the flexible nature of the apprenticeship – I wanted to gain my nursing registration, whilst earning a wage. Learning through UCW has allowed me to study and work at the same time and my workplace is very supportive of this. So, it’s been a great opportunity for my personal development.

For me the quality of the teaching was paramount and evidently effective in the value added to my learning journey. I entered the course with average or below FE grades and exited with a First-Class Honours degree achieving over 80%. I believe this improvement is largely down to the commitment of the lecturers to make the learning accessible in a range of ways to align with how their students learn.
