Our FdSc Sports Studies degree now has a bespoke Football pathway and it isn’t too late to start your studies in September!
At UCW we recognise the importance of responding to the needs of students and industry alike, and this focus has led to us developing this specialist pathway of studies in the beautiful game.
Studying two days a week on a full-time basis, the course is ideal for anyone who is interested in progressing into a career in the football or wider sport and exercise industries while still being able to satisfy sports, work and family commitments.
Based across three campuses, the programme utilises both our impressive Winter Gardens University Centre and state-of-the-art Heath and Active Living Skills Centre sports facilities.
Students engage in a range of football-specific modules alongside more general sport, health and exercise topics to gain the knowledge and skills required for a variety of roles within the football or sports industries.
Coaching fundamentals and football-specific coaching approaches are examined across year 1 and year 2 coaching modules; industry-leading software is utilised to develop performance analysis skills in year 1; and analysis of the football industry is conducted in year 2 to identify potential business opportunities for those with entrepreneurial instincts.
Alongside the academic programme, for those that have the potential, a pathway into semi-professional football is available through our partnership with Weston-Super-Mare Football Club.
