We recently spoke to former degree apprentice Immanuel, talking about his time studying with UCW while working for Airbus. His journey combines perseverance and passion, as he balances academic achievements with practical industry experience.
Immanuel chose a degree apprenticeship to work for Airbus. Working for one of the biggest aviation companies in the world lined up perfectly with his love of aerospace. There was a strong appeal in working for one of the biggest companies for engineering, as well as being able to study and earn at the same time.
Immanuel did a number of different placements at Airbus, getting the chance to work a wide range of different areas of the business. He worked in narrow body planes, chief engineering, landing gear, systems destination among many others. Across his time with Airbus so far, he has also worked on the impressive A350 and A380 aircraft providing vital engineering support. Immanuel wants to become a general engineer, someone who can jump between projects providing support to different teams.
Immanuel’s proudest moment during his degree apprenticeship was presenting a talk on the Future of Work to over two hundred people! By delivering this talk, he wanted to give back to the community and to thank everyone who had supported him in his degree apprenticeship. Another proud moment was the graduation ceremony where he was able to celebrate finishing his degree in style with his family watching on.
For those considering a degree apprenticeship, Immanuel said this: “Definitely be prepared to explore and have a mindset of exploring different areas. You’ll get so many opportunities at the end. Be yourself and you can achieve anything that you want to achieve from either a career perspective or a personal perspective. Once you start on a degree apprenticeship, aim as high as you can!”
Now that he has finished his time at UCW, Immanuel has shown off the incredible progression that degree apprentices can achieve by going on to a Engineering with Business Management Masters degree at the University of Bath.
