Welcome to the Members Page for North Somerset Children’s University!

As a member of North Somerset Children’s University, your children will have the opportunity to experience learning in a rich range of contexts. The activities have been designed to be educational yet engaging, enabling fun to be had by all those who participate.

Members will have the opportunity to take part in an array of different educational activities, visit University Centre Weston and other validated learning destinations and even attend their own graduation ceremony.

The activities available to our members can be completed while at home or further afield. Your children will find an assortment of different activities, which are available to them on the Children’s University website: Home | Children's University. There are over 3,000 different activities offered, so your children will be sure to find something that sparks their interest!

Here’s some examples of the activities that are available through North Somerset Children’s University so far:

Mini Beast Hunt – Download your resources and take children on an adventure searching for Mini Beasts. Tick off all the creepy crawlies they can find and remember to treat all the creatures you find with respect and make sure you don’t disturb them or their habitats.

Nature Pirates – Download your resources and help children become Nature Pirates. Go hunting through your local wildlife to find things of all different, textures, smells, weights and colours. Once children have found something, encourage them to draw it on the resource.

DIY Bird Feeder - Follow our step-by-step guide to create your own DIY Bird Feeder! Research shows that one person will get through 100 toilet rolls a year! So why not follow our instructions and re-use one of those toilet roll tubes and turn it into a tasty treat for a bird!

The key to emotional wellbeing is… – There are lots of different things we could all be doing to improve our emotional wellbeing. How many things can you think of? Download our emotional wellbeing worksheet and use the prompts to draw pictures that represent different ways that you can look after your emotional wellbeing.

Create your own Gratitude Jar – Download our step-by-step guide to create a hands-on activity to help your children practicise gratitude.

Fill up your Gratitude Jar – Download our Gratitude Jar template and encourage your children to fill the jar full of different things they are grateful for! Once the jar is full, make sure to leave it somewhere nearby for them to look at whenever they made need it.

Walk your Pet Month - January is Walk your Pet Month! After you’ve taken your furry friend out on an adventure, complete our Walk your Pet Month activity sheet to earn stamps in your Passport to Learning.

17th – 21st January is No Name Calling Week! This holiday has been created to help put an end to name calling and bullying in schools. Take part in this very important holiday by learning how to take pride in all the things that make you unique by completing our activity sheet.
