Applied Computing, BSc (Hons)

Level 6

Explore subjects such as online security, databases, networks, the Internet of Things and emerging technologies and prepare yourself for an exciting and diverse IT career.

Applied Computing BSc (Hons) is tailored for individuals with a wide interest in technology and practical computing. This course equips you with essential skills in software engineering, cyber security, web development, databases, and the Internet of Things, while also focusing on project management, research methods, and problem-solving.

As a well-established programme, we prioritise the core principles of computing to ensure you’re well-prepared to adapt to technological advancements throughout your career.

Starting from foundational principles means no prior experience in computing or programming is needed. We seek students who are keen problem-solvers, innovative in thought, and ambitious about their future in technology. We’re committed to supporting your success through excellent teaching and a supportive academic community.

The course is delivered at the Winter Gardens campus, located in the centre of Weston. The focus is on practical learning in a setting that encourages innovation and collaboration among students.

The best way to decide if UCW is the place for you is to come along to our next Open Day. Our HEART student services team should be able to answer any of your questions about UCW, and you can contact the course lead Jason Hill with any specific enquiries about the course.
