UCW BA (Hons) Musical Theatre students put on a spectacular show at the Winter Gardens for their end of year show! This year’s performance was The SpongeBob Musical, based on the beloved TV show. The cast showed off all the skills that they learned over the last year.
Across the two show dates, the 2nd and 3rd year students performed hit songs including Bikini Bottom Day, Poor Pirates and Best Day Ever. In addition to the brilliant singing, each dance number was carefully choreographed including a spectacular tap dance number which took incredible talent.
The production was a true team effort, with a range of roles both on and off stage. From costume and prop creation to backstage management and lighting operation, the show demonstrated the wide range of industry-relevant skills developed throughout the Musical Theatre degree.
The performance was high-energy, with plenty of laughs, suspense and heartfelt moments. The characters were brought to life, earning lots of applause and standing ovations from family, friends, and members of the public!
The show was directed by UCW’s expert Musical Theatre lecturers, who have extensive industry experience and guided students through the entire creative process. With professional-level staging, lighting, and sound, the Winter Gardens Ballroom was completely transformed into the world of Bikini Bottom.
