The escape room class

Simulation Room Turned Escape Room

18/03/2025

Lecturers recently turned our Simulation Room into an escape room as a problem-solving exercise for our Assistant Practitioner students!

Clare said about the activity: “Problem solving is a key skill in Healthcare. It is especially important when considering how to promote safety and independence with clients. We made use of VR scenarios, considered legislation through game learning and simulated the complex details of clients lives, encouraging learners to match and find all the clues and escape.”

The exercise was designed to mirror real-world healthcare challenges, giving students the chance to practise critical thinking and teamwork under pressure. By working together to solve the escape room, students enhanced their decision-making skills and gained a deeper understanding of how to apply their knowledge in fast-paced, high-stakes environments.

This exercise forms part of the Healthcare Careers Excellence Hub; and is committed to preparing learners for success in a rapidly evolving job market which is reflected in our offer via our bespoke Career Excellence Hubs, which form an integral part of all college programmes. In a world where professional networks and industry-specific skills are integral to landing employment, these hubs provide a unique solution to bridge the gap between education and industry demands.
