UCW is thrilled to announce that Poppy, a BA (Hons) Hair, Makeup and Prosthetics for Production student (HMPP), has emerged as the winner of the prestigious AHT (Assocation of Hairdressers and Therapists) national competition for full face prosthetic application. After receiving a £500 Employability Scholarship from UCW to enter the competition, Poppy’s exceptional talent and creativity have earned her the coveted title.
The competition, centred around the theme ‘Demons and Dragons,’ brought together aspiring makeup artists and prosthetic enthusiasts from various educational institutions across the country. Poppy showcased her remarkable skills and creativity during the national finals held in Blackpool, where she outshone her peers with her captivating entry.
Poppy’s winning design, which utilised her own meticulously crafted prosthetics, mesmerised the judges with its intricate details, impeccable execution, and adherence to the competition brief. Her ability to bring fantastical creatures to life through makeup and prosthetics truly set her apart, earning her well-deserved recognition.
Reflecting on her victory, Poppy expressed her enthusiasm and achievement, stating: “For this full-face prosthetic appliance competition, I had to create a look using my own made prosthetics to fit the brief ‘Demons and Dragons.’ I competed against students from across the country at the national finals held in Blackpool, and I won! I had a great time competing, having fun, and creating some scary makeups!”
