This week welcomed some familiar faces back to UCW!
We love speaking with past students. Hearing about their amazing achievements and progression since graduating really brings home the amazing successes higher education enables.
UCW alumni Mari Kerrigan, Dan Swan, Jack Kimmins and Josh Shapland visited The Winter Gardens Campus to pass on their words of wisdom to Weston College Sixth Form learners, visiting to learn about the HE opportunities on their doorstep.
The “Sixth Form Day” also saw the A Level learners having a tour of the university campus and student accommodation available in Weston-super-Mare. Courtesy of our student support team and WIN representatives, they also learnt about UCW’s welfare services, finance options, the application process and received advice on choosing courses to help them have an informed decision when making that all important UCAS application.
A highlight of the day was being able to learn more from our past students. In an interactive Q&A session, Sixth Form students gathered in the ballroom to learn from the returning students, who have all since gained employment in their relevant industries. Learning about the transitions from college to uni and then uni into the world of work was invaluable and we’d like to say a huge thank-you to the team for passing on their experiences!
