Coaching Practice and Skills
This course will allow you to develop a sound understanding of the principles of sports through a mixture of academic and practical sessions, where you will put into practice the knowledge learned in an academic environment.
All of our staff are professionally qualified with industry experience working as professional coaches and all carry accredited coaching qualifications.
The sessions will be delivered face-to-face due to the practical requirements of the course i.e. planning and delivering effective coaching sessions.

Fitness and Nutrition
In this free module, you’ll learn about fitness and nutrition. You’ll also do practical tests and create a case study. In the case study, you’ll evaluate the fitness levels of different people. You’ll use tests done in labs, like the Wingate test or VO2 max test, and tests done outside, like the multi-stage fitness test or the one-mile Rockport walking test.

Mental Heath in Healthcare
Within this short course, you will foster an understanding of how mental health is affecting the health sector whilst discussing strategies around best working practices. The short course is broken down into two discreet sections:
- Risk Management for Mental Health
- Professional Assessment for Mental Health
This short course will be delivered through a blended approach, including face-to-face at the Winter Gardens and remote delivery.

These short courses are mapped against the standards for Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ) and are designed to be a combination both academic and practical in their nature. It is important to note that because of the practical nature of the courses you may need to be in a position to use where you work to provide evidence for some of the assessments although this does depend upon the short course you choose.
